Episode 4: Can we get to zero carbon with scrap? Why the use of EAF steel won’t reduce global carbon emissions

Show notes

When steel products have reached the end of their useful life, the material’s life is far from over – because steel can be recycled an unlimited number of times. In terms of the climate, the advantage is that the production of crude steel using scrap instead of iron ore significantly reduces carbon emissions. What initially sounds like a great solution for reducing emissions in the steel industry, however, quickly reaches its limits in terms of actual feasibility. In this episode of our sustainability podcast, you’ll learn about the possibilities that scrap offers and the limitations that restrict them.
